An Experiment
May. 11th, 2026 03:11 amI've scooped what I think of as a serving of onion (ascant quarter cup?) into a large cup/bowl with handle and am giving it 88sec in the anemic microwave. Now I go see what happened.
The onions clarified, so I put my breakfast quinoa onto it and stirred. Now I get to eat it and decide whether this is something I want to do again.
(sounds of eating)
It worked! It's not the flavour of onions slowly caramelized over heat with butter, but much faster. They have body, good flavour, and play nicely with quinoa.
That horrible time in massage school when I learned to cook has paid off. I can now sometimes get successful outcomes from cooking experiments.
Since my mate lost his sense of smell and taste to covid, I cook only for me. Oh, I occasionally offer him something I've made, but he usually refuses it, so I offer less often now.
